HPR - URGENT PLEAS/NEEDS

On this page HPR will post urgent
needs, lost animals and other immediate concerns shared/crossposted by rescue
groups and individuals needing immediate help. Feel free to write us if you have
an animal needing immediate assistance. You will note that some animals have
been here a long time - they still need your help - they deserve more than
living in a kennel.
The Pet Rescue Site lists missing pets
across the US.
Check your state to see if you
have seen any of them.
And here are some individual pleas for help from around the country. Most recent are posted first...but please read on down the page! These animals all need immediate assistance! And if you know any of these animals have been placed or their circumstances have changed, please email us ASAP. Thank you. These sweethearts shouldn't have to live in a kennel...they need a loving home now!
Lakewood, Ohio - Handsome Rocky is searching for a family and love.

Grace Coyne writes: I desperately need help finding a home
for a stray cat I have been feeding and caring for since last spring. This cat
has lived outside, but has spent many winter nights on my back porch. He wants
to come into the house, but I took in another stray in September and the two
cats did not get along. Rocky is a longhair tabby point siamese male,
approximately 2 years old according to the vet. Rocky has been an outdoor stray
in our neighborhood for a while now, but is a little too aggressive (because he
has been living outside, fighting for his own food and territory) for me to
bring into my home with my other two cats. He showed up at my door last week
with a terrible open neck wound from fighting with another animal. On Monday I
was able to coax him into a carrier and got him to the vet. Trying to do the
right thing by this stray cat and following the vet's advise, I went ahead and
had him neutered, vaccinated, and tested. His wounds were drained, he received
an antibiotic shot and a round of revolution. All this was done so that he
could be released back to the outside world. When I picked up Rocky the
following day, I was told he tested positive for feline aids (FIV). Naturally,
I have been extremely upset by this news and have desperately been trying to
find help to
find this cat a permanent home. The local rescue groups have informed me that
there is little hope of him getting adopted. The animal
protective league will take him, only to put him to sleep.
This cat is living on my enclosed back porch right now. He is
litterbox trained, eats hard food, enjoys treats, and loves to have his
head, neck, and cheeks pet. He's very playful and loving once he warms up to
you. He's nervous at first, but who can blame him since he's obviously been
thrown out already. He wants to come into the house, but unfortunately I can't
risk infecting my other cats. Everything I have
read indicates that this cat still has a life worth saving, he just needs a
chance in a home where he can be an only cat. I can't keep him on my
porch forever, but I'm hoping he'll stay there a few more days so that his wound
can hopefully have more time to heal. He is absolutely beautiful
and just needs a second chance. Please, please, please help me find a loving
home for this beautiful animal. If you can't take him, please ask your
family and friends. Let me know if you or anyone you may know would be willing
to open their heart and their home to Rocky.
If you are interested in adopting Rocky, please contact Grace Coyne at onegracec@sbcglobal.net
Note: Many of us have FIV+ cats in our families and that should not be a reason not to adopt this boy or other FIV+ cats. FIV is shared only through a severe bite, and many FIV+ cats never show symptoms at all. They should be kept inside and should, of course, be seen by a vet at least once a year. Healthy FIV+ cats live long, happy lives. (Sincerely, Bari, with Hurricane Pets Rescue).

Southern California - Mr. Simon is searching for His Forever Home – Can you offer him one?

This is Mr. Simon. He has been through the ringer in the past 4 months. On
Thanksgiving, Simon was taken by a Guardian Angel from teenage abusers using him
as a softball, after he was placed in a temporary foster home he was attacked by
a big ol’ tom cat in the backyard and had to undergo surgery to repair his torn
back leg and paws, and then had to endure another surgery to remove a benign
growth. Like the little trouper that he is -- Simon has now recovered totally!
Simon is healthy and ready to go “home”! But instead of a bright future --
this cutie-pie with the kissable pink nose is soon-to-be homeless again.
His temporary foster can no longer offer him a home – & he must find a loving &
forever home--SOON. Mr. Simon is looking for the right person to see
what a wonderful addition to a home he will be – do you see his little soul in
his eyes?
Simon’s
Guardian Angel is hoping to place him in a forever home in
Douglasville, GA - This sweet dog deserves a home - is there an Angel out there that can give Toby a home or a least a good foster home?

Toby's Road to Recovery: Toby was surrendered to the Douglas County Animal Shelter with a Broken Leg wrapped in Masking Tape in an Advanced Rotten State. His Condition had advanced to the Amputation of his leg including the Shoulder. He has drain tubes to help the healing process and medication. He is neutered/Rabies Shot and healing very well. He is such a love and gives so much affection. He never meets a stranger and will make himself @ home with a loving family. He is presently recovering in the home of a Shelter Employee and is with another dog and cat. He gets along very well with them so other pets will not be a problem for Toby.

Stray Tortie in Greentown Ohio (near Canton, OH) out in the cold - needs a home!
This kitty was hanging around a house I clean at. They made her a house and were feeding her well, she started disappearing for a couple days at a time. They have not seen her since Feb. 20. One of my riding students grandmother told me about a cat that showed up at her house and now will not leave. As she described her, I asked for a pic. It is the same cat!! She doesn't live that far from the first house. This poor little girl needs a home, I feel so bad for her going from house to house looking for a home. Please help her. Gypsy is a medium sized Terrier Mix. She is about 2 years old and weighs about 40 pounds. She has been spayed and vaccinated and will be microchipped when adopted. Gypsy came into the shelter with her adorable litter of Terrier mix puppies. All of her babies have found homes, and now it's mom's turn for a chance at a forever family. She has been protective around other dogs, but will likely find room for the right companion now that her babies are no longer in need of her instincts. We believe she would prefer a cat-free home. |
|
Keeno is a 2-3 year old Domestic Medium Hair. He is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. Keeno is quiet and gets along well with other cats. He loves attention, but would prefer an adult home. Keeno does not like dogs.

Miami, FL - Elderly Mr. Beagy needs a love and home to live out his life.
My name is Mr. Beagy and I am an old guy that lived my life on the streets with my homeless dad. One day he just left me on the corner and never came back. While I was waiting for him, a mean pack of dogs attacked me and I was really ripped apart. A wonderful, caring lady saw me limping and bleeding and stopped to take care of me. She brought me home and took me to the doctor's office and he made me feel much better. I have been at her house since then, but there really isn't a lot of room for me bc she has many other dogs with special needs. She says that I am a very adoptable senior and I deserve to live inside with a family. I am very happy to be with all other dogs, cats and people. If you want to give me my chance, please call Kathy at 305-401-4693 or email her at klcremer@aol.com.

Naples, FL - Sweet Bichon Maltese Mix is looking for Love!
I would be so happy to move into your loving home as the only dog or with one other small dog. If you live in a house with no children and not a lot of strangers, please consider adopting me. I come with everything I need and lots of toys! I don’t bark much. I use wee wee pads if I need them between walks, and I do not have accidents in the house. I am a sweet and loving 20 pound Bichon Maltese mix. I tend to be protective of my owner, especially if threatened.

Fort Worth, TX area - Darling Puppy Found - Needs a Home - Please Help!

This adorable stray puppy was found on someone's driveway and they are not able to keep her. She's about 12 weeks old, semi-housetrained and already crate trained. She was wearing a collar with no tags - they checked for a microchip with their vet but there wasn't one. Puppy is sweet as can be and great with kids and other dogs. Please, this is very urgent. They do intend to potentially take this puppy to the animal shelter in the next day or two per their email from Monday (see below). As we all know, black dogs do not fare well at all, regardless if puppy or not and also puppies do not fare well after being exposed to an animal shelter. Can anyone help her? Puppy is in DFW area - this came from friends in Fort Worth, so possibly the mid-cities or Fort Worth area ...If you can foster or adopt/help this sweetheart, contact Suzanna at 817-808-6670

THROWAWAY KITTY NEEDS
HOME--Declawed Lover Boy named Sefadu With 1 Green Eye, 1 Blue eye needs a home
ASAP.
Temporary foster mom writes: Someone I knew asked me to even throw this
cat out in the street, or bring it somewhere. So I decided to keep him until I
find him a loving family. He was not loved, not mistreated but ignored. He lived
with a lil Yorkie who got all the attention. This cat is so tolerant of jealous
dogs.

He is all white. Has 1 blue n 1 green eye. Very beautiful limpid eyes. He
is a house cat. Declawed and neutered. About 6 yrs old. He is the sweetest, most
loving, charming loverboy you could imagine. He just wants to luv and be loved
all the time. He plops himself on you every chance he gets. He is very
vocal and loves to be petted or at least wants to lay next to you and have some
part of his body touching you. At night he sleeps under the covers and has his
cute little head on my leg. He is awesome. He even follows me around. He is a
real character. He will smell your lips and you can feel that cute lil button
nose, cold and wet - almost like he is kissing you. He is truly
incredible.
His name is Sefadu or Sefie. Please help him like I did. I can't keep him any
longer. My girl is terribly allergic and has asthma attacks in my house.
So Sefie needs a new family to luv. He is so worth it.

February, 2010 - Frisky, Oliver and Quinn are in dire need of homes...

Oliver: Short haired neutered male, declawed in the front. Kathy’s
soulmate. Very cuddly. Does not get along well with other cats.

Also Oliver |
Quinn: A Long haired male cat - very scared and timid. Can’t get close enough to tell much about him, so he would need a special home with understanding, patient people. He got along with Kathy but is very afraid without her. He is the one she worried about adopting out the most. |
The primary contact regarding these poor orphans is Mary K Maxwell -- her cell is 713 256 2554. Her email is mary_maxwell@ml.com
Another contact is Juanity - 713 658 1658 work. Email is juanita_stinson@ml.com
Friends are trying to find homes for these 3 orphans. We have a little more information about them. Frisky (calico / female) is about 5. Oliver (black/male) about 8 and no one is sure about Quinn (dark/long hair male), but at least 9+. We have also learned they all were big cuddlers with her, but were just very jealous of each other. I think Oliver might be ok with another pet, but as with any cat, just some adjusting time. She was a very private person and they all kind of lived a secluded life with her. Who know what they would be like in a new environment.
Nacogdoches, TX - Rescued Mine Coone Mix needs a home.
Meet adorable, precious, lovable, big boy Mitch from good ol' Nacogdoches, TX. The woman pictured holding him was coming to work on Highway 21 going almost 70 mph when Mitch ran across the highway. Instinctively, she slowed way down. Thank goodness she did because Mitch got spooked and doubled back across the highway. Terry could not avoid hitting him.
Although Terry's husband is out of work, she didn't even give that a thought when she rushed Mitch to the Vet for care. After spending more money than she really could afford, the Vet combo tested Mitch and although asymptomatic, Mitch tested positive for feline leukemia. Terry could not bear to put this special and loving Maine Coon mix down.
Terry was able to find his "home" (I use that term very loosely) as it is located in a very frightful area and they didn't care whether he was hit or not and certainly didn't care to keep him confined so that he could recover. Terry knew that there was no way she would return this gentle giant and has kept him at the plant nursery where she works where he has completely healed. He is neutered and vaccinated.
However, Terry has a number of rescued kitties (all dumped out at the nursery) and would like to find Mitch an indoor only home. He adapts to new situations quickly and loves all people. He would do well with other cats and dogs (with an acclimation period, of course).

Wantagh, Long Island - Sunshine and Shadow deserve a home...please help. They are extremely friendly, ahve been neutered and vaccinated.

My name is Elizabeth Friedman, I have two cats that were born in my back yard. They are approximately 8 -9 months of age. Both males. One is an orange and white tabby (Sunshine) and the other is a black and white tabby (Shadow). I took them into my garage because the weather has been really bad, but I can not take them into my home because my husband is highly allergic to cats. I really need to find a place for them so they can go to a loving home. I do not want to put them back out in the street. They have learned to use the litter box. Both have been vaccinated and neutered. They are both extremely friendly, they love to be touched. I have called the local animal shelter everyday for months now trying to get them in, but they have nothing available. Please if you can take them in that would be wonderful. They are wonderful cats, and I really want them to go to a loving home. Please call me at 516-765-0106 anytime. Elizabeth Friedman

Miami, FL - Spanky is searching for a forever home!

My name is Spanky and I am under 2 years old and quite a sweetiepie! My caretakers think I am a Spaniel/Bully dog mix. I am currently living in Miami. I was saved in the nick of time from a very dangerous place. I weigh about 30 lbs and am very friendly. I am all vetted and spayed and am ready for a forever home. I have been boarded in a kennel for many, many months now, I think someone forgot I was here :(
If you are interested in meeting me please don’t hesitate to call! Jeri at (954) 520-3711 or email kathy at klcremer@aol.com or (305) 401-4693.
Miami, FL - Beautiful Jader is looking for a home.
Meet Jader, a 6 year old black lab mix. You would never know her age by the way she plays! Her last owners were AWFUL and neglectful so I decided to foster her and find her a home, but given the bad economy it has been difficult to get any interest. She is spayed and up to date with all her shots. I took her to the vet on May 9th and her blood work and fecal test came back perfect.

She is fully house broken and has never had an accident in the house. She knows
basic commands, and she is very gentle when you give her treats. She loves to
give kisses and snuggle, I was told that she will try to dig her way under a
fence, so you can’t leave her in a yard unsupervised. She does not do well with
crates/cages; she will bloody her paws and mouth trying to get out of them
(probably due to something that happened in her past).
She is a very loyal and protective dog. She does protect her home once she knows
it’s hers and she’s very protective of her family. There will be some people who
come over your house that she might not like (she will let you know who they
are) She has NEVER bitten anyone.
I was told that she gets along with most dogs- she was frequently around 3
weimerimers and a St. Bernard. She does not do well with cats, small dogs or
small children.
She desperately needs a loving forever home with someone who will give her all
the love she deserves. Someone who is willing to continue her training would be
ideal.
There will be a home screening and vet reference check along with a small
adoption fee before she is adopted out. She has been through a lot and I want to
make sure that she goes to the right home.
Please contact Nicole at
nicramos23@gmail.com,
please type Jader in the subject line. Thank you!!!! (1/15/10)
Aurora, OH - Sweet Jubee is waiting for love and a new home.

Jubee has had a rough time lately. She had to be removed from PETSMART because
she became too depressed, then even after she was back at the shelter she stayed
depressed and was moved to a temporary foster home, but what she really
needs is a loving home!
She is a long haired 6 year young spayed beauty!
As of right now Jubee does not bother when people come to look at the cats, its
like she has given up hope. Jubee has
been waiting almost 1 year!
Anyone interested in adopting her would have to understand she is very shy right
now and would need time to adjust, also she would do better in a quiet home.
Jubee needs a loving family to make her feel safe and secure, and she will give
lots of love in return. If you have room in
your heart and your home for Jubee, please contact
goldie544@yahoo.com or
call
330-296-4022.

Virginia - Buster is FIV+ but healthy, needs a home ASAP!! What a handsome tiger guy!

Buster is fully vetted, is between 2 and 4 years old. He is very sweet, friendly, gets along well with other cats. He would make a great companion for another kitty or two. Although he is FIV+, he is healthy, loves to eat and deserves to be happy.
Remember, FIV cannot be spread to humans and can only be passed to other cats through a deep bite. There is no reason this sweet natured boy shouldn't be considered for adoption. If you would like more information about Buster, please contact Dianne at help@catsunlimited.org (1/10)
Houston area - Orphaned orange boys need a home ASAP.
Per Happy Cat Adoptions, Tanhouser (left) and Sunshine (right) were left behind when their human mom died. They were indoor/outdoor kitties, and when their beloved mom died, they refused to go back in the house. A friend cared for them, but being a dog person, didn’t know how to help them recover from their trauma.
Happy Cat Adoptions has taken them in and we’re looking for someone in the Houston area to foster the two red boys or better yet—an adopter! The boys need to stay together. Tanhouser is an older gent at around nine, and Sunshine is about five—but they have been together all of Sunshine’s life. They are up-to-date on shots, combo tested negative, and micro-chipped. They have just had a dental and are healthy. If you can adopt or foster these sweet boys, please contact Mickey Platko at Happy Cat Adoptions:
